Research reference kit
If you choose Save draft, your selected source IDs, research question, notes and check date are stored in this browser under public-atlas:research-kit:v1. Loading restores that draft; saving replaces it. The notes are not sent to Public Atlas. Downloading or printing creates a copy you control. Clear site storage to remove the local draft.
Saved places
When you press Save place, the site stores a list of place identifiers in this browser under public-atlas:saved:v1. It is not an account and is not synchronized between devices. Remove a saved place with its button or clear your browser’s site storage.
Search and calculators
Site search, the tide planner, comparisons and calculators run in your browser using the site’s published data. This edition does not provide an email signup, contact form or advertising script. Do not enter personal information into search fields.
Hosting and source links
Vercel hosts the site and may process technical request information such as IP address and browser details to deliver and protect the service. Following an external agency or photo-credit link takes you to a separate site with its own policies.
Future services
This policy will be updated before adding advertising, accounts or email alerts. Public owner and privacy contact details remain pending.
Optional audience measurement
Google Analytics 4 runs through Google Tag Manager only if you select “Allow analytics.” It can set analytics cookies and receive page views and technical browser information, including an approximate location derived from your IP address. We use these reports to see which pages and tools are useful. With your permission, we also measure file downloads, external source links, internal navigation, buttons, search result selections and selected tool actions. Search measurement includes a result count, never the words you type. We do not intentionally send search terms, calculator entries, saved place IDs or research notes to Google Analytics. The site works when you decline.
Your choice is stored in this browser under public-atlas:analytics-consent:v1. You can change it below. A Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal keeps analytics off. Turning analytics off stops new measurement on this browser and attempts to remove first-party Google Analytics cookies. Previously collected reports are not erased by changing your browser setting.
